Classic Pond Yachts
Auction buy - 'Miranda'
I have to say to date I have done well with my auction buys, maybe it was all to good ? the pictures above were from the auction house showing pictures of the model yacht for sale, I should have asked for more pictures, the problem with doing that is they will wind up on the advert showing everyone what is for sale, in this case that would not have hurt. I am still not sure if I have paid to much, of got a really interesting boat, pictures below -
So here she is home, the hull planking quite thin, with lots of splits in the hull, that is not unusual, the keel is to my mind a modern type ?? the skeg is very big, there is a rudder post, just no rudder supplied with the boat, both the keel and rudder very week, not only does the skeg and the keel flex, but the hull flexes as well.
These pictures show the hull shape, she is a pretty boat, what to do? a big job to restore, is it worth it ?? do I just restore as a display model???
Some pictures of the deck fittings, very good quality, I think she was a nice boat when new.
A very nice name plate, like a lot of the boat shows a high build quality originally.
Here are some pictures of the inside, she looks to be a good few years old, but when was she built ? what was she, just a model of a schooner?? Need some help with this one!!
I have quite a few models to work on before this one, so may just put her in store, take her to a few VMYG meeting and see if we can find out what she is.
